ProphetOfDoom.net was hacked
4/28/2005
The reason the Prophet of Doom website was down for three days was a result of Muslims filing complaints with the domain registrar to release private information regarding my location and their repeated attempts to transfer control of the Prophet of Doom URL to themselves. If they had been successful, they would have been able to terrorize me and to redirect the website to one of their own that was pro-Islamic, thereby preventing anyone from being able to view the evidence. In other words, Muslim terrorists don't want you to read what is contained in these pages as it will make it more difficult for them to terrorize and control us. They will stop at nothing, including dishonesty, stealing, breaching constitutional rights, and terror. What are you willing to do to stop them? The first day www.ProphetOfDoom.net was shut down Ali Sina of www.FaithFreedom.org contacted a friend to ask why. Craig's answer explains what happened as the events unfolded. Date: Tue, 26 Apr 2005 Please let me know if Craig is okay? I hope someone has his phone number and can call to find out. I don't trust Muslims. I hope Craig is safe and is taking good care of himself. Please let us know asap. Ali Date: Wed, 27 Apr 2005 Please thank Ali for his concern. Let him know that the domain registrar has locked the www.ProphetOfDoom.net URL as of late yesterday but won't say why. I own the URL through 2***. Our POD.net ISP hosts say that everything is functioning properly on their end. The problem is therefore only with the domain registrar--the place where my address resides (albeit privately) and the place where one would go to redirect the URL. So we called and they confirmed that the URL was locked and blocked. Fortunately, there are two back up sites: www.ProphetOfDoom.us and www.YadaYahweh.com. Both of them are working. It will be a major story on the internet if a domain registrar violated my property and Constitutional rites to the URL based upon Islamic pressure. Craig Date: Wed, 27 Apr 2005 Hello Craig, Thanks heaven you are okay. Yes please find out why the registrar blocked your URL and whether the Islamists are behind it. I honestly doubt they are so stupid to do such thing. This would be a major breach of the First Amendment and if that is the case, they should be sued just to raise the red flag that something is going extremely awry in America. But as I said, I don't think this is the case. They can't be this stupid. Or can they? Please let me know when you get to the bottom of this matter. Kind regards Ali Sina Date: Wed, 27 Apr 2005 Hello Ali, Thank you for your concern and support. Each time I have been threatened personally or have had the Prophet of Doom site attacked, you have been among the first people to respond. It speaks volumes about your character and your compassion to save the world from Islam. I just got off the phone with the domain registrar. They said that the account was locked down because there were requests to gain access to my private contact information (which was purposely garbled for this very reason) and to transfer control of the URL. It was apparent that the domain registrar knew the nature of the site and that something nefarious was going on. The decision to lock down the account was made by the legal department at headquarters, not by customer service or by an account manager. Therefore, based upon the information I was given, and emails I have received from the domain registrar confirming that there were many ongoing requests to transfer control of the domain and get access to my address, the lock down occurred because people hostile to the message presented at the www.Prophetofdoom.net site are interested in shutting it down and replacing it with their own and then locating me. Since we have received countless emails from Muslims threatening to do both of these things, it is obvious that Islamic terrorists performed as promised. Good Muslims know that the Islamic scriptures are lethal to Islam. Muhammad's own words condemn him and his demonic cult for the terrorists they really are. They will do anything to keep Muslims and Infidels alike ignorant of Muhammad's own words and deeds because they recognize that they are rationally indefensible and overtly incriminating. While there are many great sites on the internet like www.FaithFreedom.org, Prophet of Doom uniquely condemns Islam solely by exposing Muhammad's words and deeds as they are recorded in the Qur'an and Hadith in context and in chronological order. For this they have no answer. All they can do is keep Muslims and Infidels from going to the site and learning the truth. But what's interesting, since I stopped promoting the site (I had previously done 1500 hours of radio interviews), traffic has increased three fold. In our first year during the intense promotion of the site we had just over a million visitors. This year that total will triple to 3,000,000. It seems that the more Muslims do to threaten me and the message, the more people visit. The simple truth is that Muhammad was a terrorist and a liar. Muslims are foolishly following his example and sadly worshiping a god made in the image of a despicable man. We both serve to expose this life saving and liberating truth. Fortunately, as you know, we have a we have a mirror site to www.ProphetOfDoom.net. It is www.ProphetOfDoom.us. It is still working. Both of my books on Islam, Prophet of Doom and Tea With Terrorists are also presented for free in their entirety at www.YadaYahweh.com. Thanks Ali for the important work that you do at www.FaithFreedom.org. Craig
After enduring the Prophet of Doom site being down two more days, Craig called the domain register again. Following that discussion he received this email from the registrar. Dear Mr. Winn, This message is regarding a status update of Service Request Number ---, coded as Corporate Support - [Breach of Contract] - Escalations. This email is a test to validate the address listed in our database under the Private Registration Service. There is no action required on your part. Please do not respond to this E-mail. If you would like to contact us, please E-mail us at customerservice@---.com or call our customer service at --- and provide Service Request --- to our customer service agent. Sincerely, AGENT NAME Customer Satisfaction Team
In response, Craig wrote: Dear ---, I received the email copied below from ---- ---- at 12:33, this Friday afternoon, the 29th of April, 2005. I am troubled by it for many reasons. First, the URL which I purchased and subsequently renewed from your company, www.ProphetOfDoom.net, has been locked down by your firm in violation of my property and Constitutional rights. I was never even notified regarding the existence of a potential problem. The site was just taken offline by your company. My mission to expose what the Islamic scriptures really say at that website so as to save people from the terror Islam inspires has been compromised by your firm--leaving Americans ever more vulnerable to continued acts of terrorism. So beyond freedom of speech, your company's actions may well cause more Americans to die at the hands of this deadly dogma. Second, I do not use --- as an ISP host for the Prophet of Doom site. The primary and mirror sites are hosted by --- and ---. If there was a problem related to the content of the website (in this case, Prophet of Doom represents the best documented and most complete, comprehensive, and chronological presentation of Muhammad's words and deeds as they were recorded in the Islamic Qur'an and Hadith), the issue would need to be addressed by --- or ---, and not by the registrar. Yet, they confirm that there is no problem on their end and that the issue is with the domain itself. My research, evidence, and presentation are not in violation of any of their covenants. Third, I have paid for the account and for my privacy related to that account through 20-- and 20--, respectively. I cannot therefore be in "Breach of Contract." Fourth, when I spoke with your customer service rep on Wednesday, she informed me that the reason for the lock was that someone had asked for the contact information to be confirmed in one of my files. Since she verified that my email address was present, accurate, and private while I was on the phone with her, this could not have been used as justification for the termination of my ministry's website. Fifth, when I spoke to --- on Wednesday, I was assured that the lock placed upon my www.ProphetOfDoom.net URL by the legal department of would be removed immediately and that within 24 hours the DNS servers would propagate the URL returning the website to operable status. Not only did that not occur, I wasn't notified that the account was still locked down and that it remains so at this time. This is unethical and unprofessional. Sixth, the beginning portion of the attached email is senseless. It says: "This message is regarding a status update" and yet no status update was provided. And you email uses terminology that it does not explain. What does "coded as Corporate Support - [Breach of Contract] - Escalations" mean? And why is it listed as an issue?
Seventh, why, since you have infringed upon my mission, my property, the safety of Americans, and my Constitutional rights of expression, am I told not to take action or to respond to the email? I wasn't even given a contact person familiar with the problem with whom to resolve this. I want my property and Constitutional rights returned and the URL unlocked immediately. And I want a letter from your firm explaining specifically what and who prompted the company to lock down this URL. As a registrar of web domains, you are only viable if you can be trusted. If associations and businesses knew that you were this capricious in your actions, capable and willing to shut down their websites without warning or explanation and even worse not reinstate them promptly, or even be professionally accessible, I dare say you would lose you singular value proposition, and your customers with it. Now, if you have a good explanation for what has occurred, I'd be pleased to hear it and put this matter behind us. Sincerely, Craig Winn
As a follow-up to this disruption, the legal department of the domain registrar did call Craig and the www.prophetofdoom.net site was brought back online. A professional, apologetic, and articulate person confirmed that complaints were filed by unknown parties who were desirous of finding Craig's address and also of obtaining control over the website. His concerns were therefore validated. Here is an email we received recently from a reader, relaying a similar experience: Craig, I think my original message bounced. Here it is again below. I read about your domain registration problems. You should know that someone tried the very same harassment technique on a friend's website, http://www.investigateislam.com They called the registrar repeatedly with all kinds of so-called legal complaints and demanded the address and name of the registrant. My friend was justifiably concerned because he is an American Arab-Christian originally from Saudi Arabia. He has grave concerns for the safety of his family members still living in the Middle East. The attacks seem well coordinated and are likely the work of ..... Islamist organizations trying to silence the truth about Islam. They continue their efforts to brand all exposure of Islamic teachings as hate speech. Indeed, two Christian pastors in Australia were tried on similar hate speech charges merely for quoting Qur'an verses in their sermons recently. Our group conducts live debates with Islamist supporters and apologists daily on PalTalk. With the help and guidance of our Arab Christian friends, we have learned how to reach out to Muslims and help them see the contradictions and intolerant teachings of Islam. Many have left Islam, and some have become Christians. These efforts have exposed the true nature of Islam and the behavior of its supporters to a large group of Western skeptics as well. Throughout these verbal battles, your work has served as a resource, and as an inspiration. Our faith in Yashua has only been strengthened by this test. Best Regards, (name removed)
