The Rock

Before we give up and go fishing, I'd like to share what Islam had to say about the creation of man. It was one of Muhammad's and Allah's favorite subjects - covered countless times in the Hadith and Qur'an. Since neither were capable of prophecy or miracles, man's existence was used to prove Allah's existence. Tabari I:258 "Allah created Adam from sticky clay, meaning viscous and sweet smelling, from slime, being stinking. It became stinking slime after having been compact soil. Allah formed Adam with His own hand." [Qur'an 15:26] So if a Muslim calls you a "stinking slimeball," thank him. It's a compliment. I think.

Yet, Allah forming us out of slime is insulting, and it's contradictory. The referenced verse says: Qur'an 15:26 "We fashioned man from fermented clay, stinking slime, dried tingling hard as we fashioned jinn [demons] from white hot flame." Elsewhere in the Qur'an god created man from "dust," "spurting water," "contemptible water," "a drop of semen," "an embryo," "a single sperm [whose do you suppose?]," "a single cell," "a chewed up lump of flesh," "extract of base fluid," "inordinate haste," or simply "weakness," depending on where you look. There are thirty creation accounts and twenty-two variations. Of course, this must all make sense, because Allah insists there are no contradictions in the Qur'an.

Throughout the Sunnah and Qur'an Muhammad falsely attributes Muslim prophet and messenger status to Biblical characters in order to remake them in his image. Most every prophet/messenger listed in the Qur'an came from the Bible, including: Adam, Noah, Seth, Abraham, Lot, Jacob, Joshua, Jonah, Job, Moses, David, Solomon, Saul, Elijah, Ezra, Enoch, John, and Jesus. Moses is mentioned by name in 500 verses, Abraham in 250. Muhammad's non-Biblical list consists of mistakes and myths. For example, the oft-mentioned Hud was from the mythical land of "Ad." (Something Muhammad couldn't do.)

"I asked the Messenger, 'Who was the first of them.' He replied, 'Adam.' I asked him whether Adam was a prophet sent as a messenger. He replied, 'Yes, Allah created him with His own hand and blew some of His spirit into him. Then He immediately fashioned him in perfect shape.'" So much for fermenting him. (Qur'an 15:26 & Tabari I:261)

The Qur'an follows its revisionist account of Noah's with another fairytale: Qur'an 11:50 "To Ad We sent Hud. He said: 'O my people, serve Allah, you have no ilah (God) other than He. You are nothing but forgers of lies.... Allah will send on you clouds pouring down abundance of rain.'" The legendary Hud is giving the mythical Ad the same speech. And that's a problem. It reveals that Allah lacks imagination, an editor, and a memory. The story of the Ad is repeated eleven times. And elsewhere in the Qur'an, Allah says that the Ad were blown away, not flooded. In surah 15 we read: "So those who were Ad turned insolent unjustly in the land, and said, 'Who is stronger than us.' Did they not see that Allah who created them was far greater in power than they? Yet they refused to believe Our signs so We let loose on them a violent wind for several days of distress to make them taste a most disgraceful punishment here in this world, and far more shameful will be the punishment in hell. They will have no savior."

Tabari II:120 "Gabriel picked up their land with his wing and turned it over. He lifted it so high the inhabitants of heaven heard the crowing of roosters and the barking of dogs. He turned them upside down and rained upon them stones of clay." [Qur'an 15:74]

The 15th surah says: "Thus did We turn it upside down, and rained down upon them stones of what had been decreed. Surely in this are signs for those who examine. And surely it is on a road that still abides. Most surely there is a sign in this for the believers. The dwellers of the Rock rejected the messengers."

Allah is daring us to use his depiction of Sodom as a proof of his divinity. But Sodom wasn't turned upside down, it wasn't stoned with clay, nor was it ever close enough to heaven for the angelic host to hear the roosters. And the roads have long since disappeared. We know that because archeologists have found Sodom, Gomorrah, and the other cities of the plain. And guess what? They are exactly where the Bible said they would be. They were destroyed exactly when the Bible said that they were destroyed. And yes, they were buried exactly how the Bible proclaimed - under brimstone. Once again, the Bible was precisely accurate and the Muhammad/Allah team couldn't even plagiarize it without burying themselves.

Before we dive into the surah I'd like to share a Hadith from Ibn Ishaq to demonstrate how reluctant Muhammad was to discuss the relationship he had formed with his demonic spirit. Ishaq:117 "Three years elapsed from the time that Muhammad concealed his state until Allah commanded him to publish his religion according to information that has reached me. 'Proclaim what you have been ordered and turn away from the polytheists.' [Qur'an 15:94] 'Warn your family, your nearest relations.' [Qur'an 26:214] When these words came down to the Apostle he said, 'Allah has ordered me to warn my family and the task is beyond my strength. When I make my message known to them I will meet with great unpleasantness so I have kept silent. But Gabriel [Lucifer] has told me that if I do not do as ordered my Lord [Satan] will punish me.'" This Hadith is injurious to Islam. The surahs it references (15 and 26) were not among the first fifty revealed, so the timing is impossible. Further, Khadija was the first Muslim and Ali was the third. Muhammad's only other family members were daughters, and in Islam, they don't count. So what "great unpleasantness" was he afraid of? Moreover, imagine a revelation so feeble, the prophet has to be threatened to deliver it. Muslims deserve something better than this.
